Payment channels on the invoice

In the invoice editor you choose how the customer should pay on a per-invoice basis. The invoice email, the "Payment information" block on the PDF, and the associated workflow all adapt automatically to your choice.

Available payment channels

ChannelWhen to useWhat the invoice email says
Bank transfer (default)Classic invoice — customer transfers manually"Please transfer EUR X by DD.MM. to the following account …"
SEPA Direct DebitYou automatically collect the amount (e.g. monthly retainers)"We will debit EUR X on DD.MM. from your account …1234. Please do not transfer manually."
CashDirect on-site saleNo payment instructions — notice that the invoice is paid in cash
Stripe pay linkOnline pay link (credit card, SEPA, Apple Pay …)"Pay now online" button embedding the Stripe Checkout link

How to change the payment channel

  1. Open the invoice in the editor.
  2. Scroll to the Payment channel section.
  3. Pick the desired option from the dropdown.
  4. For SEPA Direct Debit: a second dropdown appears with active mandates for the client — pick the right one. If the client has no mandate yet, create one first on the client detail page.
  5. Save the invoice.

SEPA pre-notification

When you switch an invoice to SEPA Direct Debit, dVersum automatically replaces the usual "Please transfer …" wording with a SEPA pre-notification. This is legally required and avoids the most common SEPA support ticket — customer transfers AND gets debited.

The pre-notification automatically contains:

  • Mandate reference (e.g. MNDT-2026-000042)
  • Your Creditor ID
  • Collection date (= invoice due date)
  • Last 4 digits of the debtor IBAN
  • Notice "Please do not transfer manually"

Details in SEPA Direct Debit (pain.008).

If you've configured a Stripe Secret Key per org (Settings → Integrations → Stripe), you can generate a pay link per invoice. As soon as the customer pays, dVersum automatically marks the invoice as "paid" and creates a payment record.

dVersum tip

Set a default payment channel per client in the client master data so new invoices come pre-filled correctly. For recurring retainer clients, that saves you a click every month.
